Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how Join Camera ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Join Camera mobile application, App Clip, website at https://join.camera, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

We collect only what we need to run the Service. We do not sell your personal information, do not use it for third-party advertising, and do not permit cross-app tracking for advertising purposes.

Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly and information generated when you use the Service.

  • Account and profile information, such as your display name and, if you create an account, your email address or sign-in identifier.
  • Photos and related metadata you capture or upload within an event, including the time a photo was taken.
  • Event participation data, such as the events you create, join, or host.
  • Purchase information if you buy paid features through Apple In-App Purchase (processed by Apple; we receive transaction-related records, not your full payment card details).
  • Device and usage information, including app version, device type, operating system, and general usage or diagnostic data needed to operate and improve the Service.
  • Communications you send to us, such as support requests.
  • Cookies and similar technologies on our website, used for basic functionality and to understand how the site is used.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including hosting events and revealing photos according to event settings.
  • Authenticate guests and account holders, prevent abuse, and enforce event limits.
  • Store, process, and deliver photos to event participants.
  • Process purchases and provide paid features you request.
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the Service.
  • Monitor performance, debug issues, and improve reliability and user experience.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect the rights, safety, and security of users and the Service.

How Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it for cross-app advertising or tracking. We may share information in the following circumstances:

  • With other participants in an event, such as photos and display names visible within that event according to the host's settings.
  • With service providers that help us operate the Service, such as cloud hosting, storage, infrastructure, and analytics providers bound by contractual obligations to protect your information.
  • When required by law, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect rights, safety, and security.
  • In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

Service Providers

We use trusted third-party providers to help run the Service. These may include hosting providers (such as Vercel for our website), cloud storage and infrastructure providers, and analytics or diagnostic tools. These providers process data on our behalf and only as needed to provide their services to us.

Camera, Photos, and Permissions

Join Camera uses your device camera only when you take a photo within an event. Photo library access is used only if you choose to save photos to your device. Push notifications are optional and can be managed in your device or app settings.

Photos you take within an event may be visible to other participants in that event according to the host's settings, including when photos become visible.

You can manage many permissions in your device settings. Declining certain permissions may limit some features.

App Clip

The Join Camera App Clip uses minimal data to let guests join an event and capture photos with your permission. It uses camera and network access only while in use and is governed by this Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

We retain information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy:

  • Account data: kept while your account is active.
  • Event photos: kept until the event is deleted, the host removes them, or your account is closed, subject to applicable backup and legal retention requirements.
  • Deleted accounts: we aim to remove or de-identify associated personal data within 30 days, except where we must retain limited data for legal compliance, fraud prevention, or security.
  • Support communications: retained as needed to resolve your request and for a reasonable period afterward.

Your Choices and Rights

You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at raffi.yeghiazaryan@gmail.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding. If account deletion is available in the app, you may also use in-app settings.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:

  • California (CCPA/CPRA): the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion or correction, and to opt out of sale or sharing (we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising). We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
  • EEA/UK (GDPR): the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us at raffi.yeghiazaryan@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International Users

The Service is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those in your jurisdiction. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer, storage, and processing.

Security and Data Breaches

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We maintain internal procedures to respond to potential security incidents involving personal information. Where required by applicable law, we will notify affected users of a breach involving their personal information through reasonable means, such as email or in-app notice.

External Links

Our website or app may link to external sites not operated by us. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their policies.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version at https://join.camera/privacy and revise the "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we will use reasonable efforts to notify you, such as by email or in-app notice. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
